Amid the post-war boom of Hollywood's Golden Age, Cole Phelps is an LAPD detective thrown headfirst into a city drowning in its own success.
Corruption is rampant, the drug trade is exploding, and murder rates are at an all-time high. In his fight to climb the ranks and do what's right, Phelps must unravel the truth behind a string of arson attacks, racketeering conspiracies and brutal murders, battling the L.A.
Underworld and even members of his own department to uncover a secret that could shake the city to its rotten core. Using groundbreaking new animation technology, MotionScan, that captures every nuance of an actor's facial performance in astonishing detail, L.A. Noire is a violent crime thriller that blends breathtaking action with true detective work to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience. Search for clues, chase down suspects and interrogate witnesses as you struggle to find the truth in a city where everyone has something to hide. Noire is the first videogame to be honored as an Official Selection by the Tribeca Film Festival. The Complete Edition includes all previously released DLC, including the “Nicholson Electroplating” Arson case, the “Reefer Madness” Vice case, “The Consul’s Car” Traffic case, “The Naked City” Vice case and “A Slip of the Tongue” Traffic case. Pros: Pretty compelling story-driven gameplay.
Great price when on-sale. Great graphics, realistic but still a bit stylized. Good character animations.
Very good voiceovers. Innovative exploration system to locate and examine objects and areas. Cons: Movement and exploration mechanics can be a bit 'klunky' and awkward at times. Vehicle-control is keyboard based, awkward and 'GTA'-like, difficult and awkward. Other Thoughts: This is an excellent game, I just wish the keyboard-based controls were a bit more fine-tuned, and why for-the-love-of-pete can't anyone make a vehicle control system that uses the mouse to steer left/right? The A-D or arrow keys just suck as a substitute for the fluidity of a steering wheel, but a mouse does this by nature.
Also, if you have this Complete Edition, you do NOT need to buy the separate DLC bundle, it's already included! Something not well explained here on the Newegg site. Noire is a pretty good game really. The story is quite good and interesting to follow, especially once you start piecing together the puzzle(s).
The map is big and very detailed. One of the things I enjoyed was just driving around and exploring. There is a decent amount of activities to be had, from the main story cases to taking on street crimes (little one to five minute crimes where you have to take down criminals or solve a quick mystery) and finding hidden cars. The facial recognition technology is absolutely amazing. You can practically pick out the smallest detail on the character's face as they speak and interact with you.
It's too bad that this wasn't a 'next-gen' game; that would be very cool to see and make the game slightly easier. This game has the Rockstar touch-of-awesome-realism that I have seen in so many other of their games. From the weapons to the cars and the attire, it's all practically spot on. The voice acting is also (mostly) well done.
There are a few characters who's talent (if you call it that) behind the mic makes me cringe a little when I encounter them. But these are few and far between. Ptv drama serial aanch cast list. Cons: The gameplay feels a little hollow. There is often only one button to push to get your character to do a long line of action.
For example, running up stairs or taking down a criminal in a fist fight (although I understand the stairs part, trying to hit the exact tight corners while running up after someone would be a nightmare). The driving, while fun, gets to be pretty boring and monotonous. There is a make your partner drive option, which after about six hours in, I started using all the time. The storyline(s) can be a little difficult to follow also. There is three different storylines going on while you are playing. If you count the different desk/department cases then there is seven (if I remember correctly). The stories change a little as you move from desk to desk.
