I have a cheap video home security system, and compared the 4-channel DVR (made by Defender) picture and video capture with the Encore ENMVG-3. They look about the same.

It did work, however the quality was not good at all. I assumed it was the old Hi8 video tapes I was trying to record from. I then switched to the camera mode on my old camcorder and the quality was just as bad. Tried three other cameras including my Canon 60D DSLR for live view and the quality was still bad.
